It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
